Actually, he made a fortune secretly selling his Arbusto stock while the price was high, several months before the news came out exposing his speculative failures and the company went tits up; leaving the shareholders holding the empty bag. On another note, he formed Arbusto with seed money from the Bin Laden family... ring a bell?

He then "somehow" parlayed this good fortune into becoming majority partner in a purchase of the Texas Rangers... using a minority investment of his own money. How the "ex-cheerleader" accomplished this is still a mystery. Then he was able to "convince" the City of Arlington into spending hundreds of $Millions building him a new stadium with taxpayer's money.

This exposure to the people of Texas then led him to the Guvna's mansion... and the rest is history.

As Gov. Ann Richards once said, "Poor George. He can't help it. He was born with a silver boot in his mouth." And the late, great Texan Molly Ivin's comment: "All Hat and no cattle."
