ANKARA, May 6 (Xinhuanet) -- Three militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were arrested when they were preparing to stage bomb attacks in southeastern Turkey, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported Friday.
Diyarbakir Governor's Office was quoted as saying that the arrest was made during a police operation on May 4-5 and bomb experts deactivated the explosives.
An investigation was underway, the report added.
The PKK, with 4,000 to 5,000 militants, wants to set up a Kurdish state which incorporates southeastern Turkey, northern Iraq and parts of Iran and Syria.
The PKK launched an armed campaign against the Turkish government in 1984, but fighting has subdued significantly since PKK commander Abdullah Ocalan was captured in 1999.
The group called off a unilateral ceasefire in 2004, disrupting the fragile peace.
The Turkish government refuses to negotiate with the PKK, listing it as a terror organization. Enditem
