Ignorance—lack of knowledge—is a condition common to us all. Will Rogers said that we’re all ignorant, just on different subjects.
What I’m seeing these days is different in two ways. First, it’s a willful ignorance: “I don’t want to know the facts; that’s too difficult and takes too much time.”
And second, a certain pride in their ignorance: “Somewhere deep inside I know that what I’m saying is nonsense and I really have no idea what I’m talking about, but that’s how I like it.”
