mlsoft...Naturally, that would be the rational way to view it. However (and I speak as one who spent 18 years in the management consulting business), most companies haven't such clear foresight and typically lay off after the bulk of the damage is done while hiring back at the peak of business. It's no wonder they need to bring in outsiders to stratghten them out.
