Stephanie -- I'd think an increased incidence of intense flooding events fueled by the increased heat and humidity running into stalled frontal boundaries, such as we're seeing right now in (actually the more significant aspect of) the current event and such as Pakistan/Afghanistan last year, might be more readily directly linked to the warming

tornadoes are quite particular, require upper-level winds/systems/frontal boundaries encountering/running over the top of a warm/humid/unstable boundary layer (the layer sitting on the surface) with its own winds/systems/frontal boundaries -- two years ago a very large upper-level high, not unlike the one that sat over Russia last year and baked it dry, both consistent with the warming by the way, just sat over basically the entire countinental U.S. and pretty much snuffed the entire tornado season ([items linked in] http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=38097716 and preceding [and following])
