Re Trump:

and a sociopath, others matter not

My wife is a psychiatric social worker with a MSW and 25+ years in the emergency room of a large, metropolitan hospital. When someone comes into the ER acting strangely, they call her for the initial evaluation.

She won't let me willy-nilly throw around all these clinical terms as much as I'd like to (darn her, she's always spoiling my fun!) and that severely limits my ability to call people vile names that they don't even understand, a great source of pleasure for me.

We were talking about The Donald earlier. She won't go as far as calling him a sociopath (the technical diagnosis is actually ASPD, Antisocial Personality Disorder) but she agrees that he has some of the characteristics: deceitfulness, impulsiveness, irritability, aggressiveness, blaming & rationalizing to name a few.

It’s interesting that these characteristics not only describe the mentally ill but are also found in people who grew up and are still very rich, privileged, and divorced from the realities that most of us peons must deal with.

It's only logical that a Hollywood star, a professional athlete, a billionaire, feels that he/she is special in all ways. They have a right to special possessions and special opinions; they're tuned-in to a higher truth than lower humans could ever possibly perceive; the real world consists not of working or grocery shopping or taking the kids to school or mowing the lawn, but of Momentous Power Meetings and Special Events (it must be special, they’re in them) and most importantly, this real world revolves around them.

To this person, the questioning of his/her judgment or life decisions would seem as absurd as questioning Louis XIV’s right to own Versailles: I’m the Sun King, where do you expect me to live, a split-level?

And all this is to be expected and a source for amusement; where it gets dangerous is when this person feels that they have a right to be President.
