Okay Augie,
I am finally back at my own computer here.
Try this on for size:
Last night, I was trying at first to duplicate $NAUD from Stockcharts, Nasdaq Up minus Down Volume. This statistic is not comparable over time, because it is volume based. So it is best to convert it to a percentage of total volume.
Up Volume/Total Volume, Down Volume/Total Volume and Up-Down Volume/Total Volume should essentially give you the same reading though. Correct??
Here is where I did something different. Instead of just plotting the 5-DMA, I subtracted the 26-DMA from the 5-DMA and plotted that.
So I determined the prevailing intermediate term run rate of Nasdaq Volume (26DMA), then calculated a ST rate (5DMA), and plotted the difference. Maybe you can try that one out and see if you can duplicate my results.
The approach I used is similar to how one calculates the McLellan Oscillator. Only the McLellan uses # issues up-down instead of volume, and 19 and 39 DMA's.
Well, I am going to go and use your "good" data and mess around with it.
