If it is real and I have serious doubts. I think the biggest purpose is just to see if the can get away with it. If so, first the American public ignores the fact that no WMD ever existed. AFTER setting Saddam free there would be no reason what so ever for ever have invaded Iraq. If the American public let this slide ( and why not as stupid as they have been so far ) then the excuse for nuking Korea could be that Tony Blair farted. Or that the moon is full. Or that there is a rumour that Brad Pitt is getting back together with Jenn. Or Bush did not put enough sugar in his coffe. What next? Then will they let Saddam the "Middle East Hitler" run in the next American Presidential elections? Then we could blame nuking Moscow on Saddam.

Talk about giving Osama and company the green light to charge ahead full steam. Lots of Europeans I talk politics with as of Putins visit to Israel and the arms deal with Syria, now believe that the U.S. won't gain one more inch in the Middle East. Iraq will be the end of the road and they think we are about to take an unprecedented beating in Iraq. I have no argument with that opinion. Saddam returning to civilian life? Other than the timing nothing else about it makes any sense to me.
