It shouldn't be too hard for you to figure
out for yourself now should it vetchy.
But since it appears that my new lot in life
is to educate you, I guess I had better follow
orders.
First off, a large capacity electric motor is
around 90% efficient were as a diesel is around
40%. Electricity at the plant cost 8 cents
per kilowatt hour, this includes the cost to
transport the power which runs about 1 cent
per kilo hour.
Diesel fuel on the other hand cost around (if not
more than) $3.00 a gallon. Bolivia is rich in
natural gas which is used to generate electricity.
There is also a lot of hydro electric power as
well. Refineries on the other hand, as far as I
know, Bolivia has none.
Then you have to figure the difficulties involved
in getting diesel to the site, were as electricity
is already there. A 1 hp elecrtic motor can lift
33O pounds of dirt 1 foot in one minute.
The conveyor belt system will be an extremely
efficient large volume electric system with
low maintenance requirments.
Diesel vs Electric, no contest.
