Now let's say I have a small business and I run it at my home in Jeffsville. This is where I incorporated. However, I have a composting facility about an hours drive away where I do all the stinky composting in order to keep it away from any city limits. It is near Stinkville. Would I join the chamber of commerce for Stinkville or Jeffsville (if I joined any)? The answer is Jeffsville of course; I do my busines there, I am incorporated there, I pay my taxes there. Now why would Stinkville's chamber of commerce have any knowledge of my property nearby? I do not do any business there and may even be outside the town's limits since I am located NEAR, not IN. BTW, not everyone joins the chamber of commerce. In fact, I doubt there would be much benefit since they do not operate a retail facility. Also, how much benefit woudl you get from joing a chamber of commerce in a town of 1000 people?
