Not many would disagree investment in R&D is sorely needed, but I take exception with the statement that America spends money protecting the past...Big corps and big banks run this country; anyone who thinks differently is kidding themselves. Talk of "creating jobs" no longer has any meaning...Repubs ran on that promise last Nov, many gullible people fell for it and we see how successful they've been...now the Repubs don't even mention "creating jobs" anymore - unless of course they want to block something the Dems proposed so I guess Repub pols know there will always be some who fall for their pitch about "creating jobs".
The jobs big corps/big banks will create will NOT be in the USA.

As for the US being in Libya, it was first described as a no-fly zone operation; as predicted by Sec'ty of Def Gates, it is now a no-fly, no-drive zone operation. Unlike some, I have no problem the US is not in lead this time - frankly I question why we're there...then I remind myself Libya has oil.
