Nice find on the first video, I had not seen that one. Unfortunatley Naveed is no longer running the R&D show at CABN, or perhaps I should say fortunately? He is very young, and the Ex-Shell oil engineer we have now is an old timer with decades of petrochemical plant innovation experience at deploying new technology into existing plants.
The guy in the second video (Not CABN) obviously is not a chemist, as he makes several chemical descriptive mistakes in his presentation. I have a hard time listening to or believing what a person says when they make the mistakes that guy made in his presentation (the second link), so when I add that to rest of what he said that I disagree with, I can't really say much good about that one. For one, we are about to get squeezed between the no CO2 emissions, and no Nukes (due to Japan's disaster) environmental activists, and the hyperbolic price of crude oil as the middle east goes belly up in a rash of riots and chaos.
That leaves alternative coal, meaning clean coal and natural gas as the only overnight solutions around. Solar will get a boost, but won't fill the gaps fast enough. So being able to make a fuel of any kind out of CO2 should get a lot more attention. And making gasoline out of CO2 and natural gas should shine!
Ambition with out knowledge is like ship in dry dock. Going nowhere fast!
