To qualify for inclusion in the study, patients must be between 18-65 years of age, have confirmed HIV-1 infection, fat accumulation (visceral adiposity), and evidence of insulin resistance. The primary goal of the study is to determine the effects of SomatoKine on visceral fat and insulin sensitivity.

Reported were updates on various IND-enabling efficacy and safety studies, as well as new data on the combined use of GRN163L with VELCADE in an animal model of human multiple myeloma.
The results showed that relative to the control group, tumor growth was reduced 30% by GRN163L aloneand 68% by the GRN163L and VELCADE combination. VELCADE alone had no efficacy in this model at the dose used. All treatments were well tolerated.

The results showed that relative to the control group, tumor growth was reduced 30% by GRN163L aloneand 68% by the GRN163L and VELCADE combination. VELCADE alone had no efficacy in this model at the dose used. All treatments were well tolerated.
