The portion of a company's outstanding shares ""that is in the hands of public investors"", as opposed to company officers, directors, or controlling-interest investors.
So, how can there be a reduction in float when the 1,000,000,000 retired shares of QBID common stock were personally held by Frank Olsen, President and CEO of Q Television Network???? It make absolutely no sense what so ever!! Company officers and directors DO NOT own any part of the float.. Its the publics stock.. Don't start yappin at me about this, pick up the phone and call your broker or the SEC corporate division..
If Frank did retire 1 billion of his own shares, it would reduce the O/S by one billion, not the float.. Simple..
