There WILL BE an all-oral combo treatment at some juncture
the first evidence of SVR with an all oral is at EASL this year from the BMY combo study. 4/11 patients achieved SVR 12 (fairly predictive of SVR 24). this was in nulls, so in theory naives may ahve better rates
Interferon may go the way of the incandescent light bulb
maybe but in the same study ALL pts achieved SVR12 when SOC was added on
interestingly 2/2 patients with gen-1b achieved SVR12 whereas only 2/9 with gen1a did in this study. i think what may play out is stratification based on genotype and sub-genotype (and il28b polymorphism) to determine best treatment. perhaps a 3rd agent will do the trick for may as DD suspects, but imo there likely will be some difficult to treat patients that will still require interferon and/or ribavirin
