So, Northern, are you concerned when China comes out with a 5-yr plan to restrict energy usage, lower growth, a future (2016) decline in labor?
I have surmised the volatile swings are due to the market taking pronouncements from the Chinese government (like the 5-yr plan) seriously resulting in volatile drops until the emphasis on China changes which leads to the dramatic swings up.
Then, in the US markets, there is the ongoing distrust for China companies because of the perception that these companies have different financials (one for the China regulatory department, one for foreigners, and an internal one) that go unaudited and a great deal of nepotism. This seems to be one reason for the move, of late, of China companies going private (CSR, for example) rather than be audited.
Lastly I remember a post last year (I believe it was yours but I'm not certain) saying the period of 'easy money' in China stocks has come and gone. Certainly it seems more challenging now than it did a few years ago or is that my imagination talking!
Frankly all of these things leave me feeling hesitant because I don't have any reliable resources, other than you, to help me determine what's true and what isn't.
I am very grateful to you, Northern, for your generous and informative posts.
