If you must continue to revisit this shorting subject .. there are 3 types of shorts .. legal .. naked and illegal .. and the naked shorting the MM s are allowed to do legally in their course of business making a market. Legal retail shorting is enormously and prohibitively expensive to do. Try illegally shorting -- cannot be done. And the MM s can still naked short.
