***OT***. The "official" spelling is Hanukkah, but I disagree with it for a number of reasons. In Hebrew, the "n" has a "hard" accent, requiring doubling of the letter, thus my double "n". The "K" on the other hand, is already an accentuated "chaf", or with the accent "kaf or better yet "caf". Last the "h" at the end would indicate a "mapik" in the last "he" in the word, but no such is present. Thus the spelling shoul reallu be: "Hannuca", but I gave in on the c and accepted a single "k", Hannuka".

Here are a number of spellings for your eyes only:

Channuca, Channucah, Channuka, Channukah, Chanuca, Chanucah, Chanuka, Chanukah,
Hannuca, Hannucah, Hannuka, Hannukah, Hanuca, Hanucah, Hanuka, Hanukah,
Hannucka, Hannuckah, Hannukka, Hannukkah, Hanucka, Hanuckah, Hanukka, Hanukkah,

And I am sure that a wise man could do the normal "jewish thing" and have 120 spelling of that word rather than just 24 (g). All the variant replacing "k" with "qu" or just "q" would bring the count to 40 spellings, and that is only one third of the way.... (VBG). All this for a simple four letter Hebrew word...
