Very well said, brightness. Especially point #2.

We have to be careful in the details, though. Both sides tend to exaggerate their needs as both want the best deal, of course. The problem is that corporate management almost by definition have a better bargaining position than an individual worker. A further problem is that unions, once fighting for real human rights, are now just as corrupt as the most corrupt wall street banks, and fight for far more than what makes sense.
