the 21% fatal number in regards to tysabri is somewhat misleading. The time course of PML to determine the ultimate outcome of death vs. permanent disability vs. recovery is ~ 1 yr.

It is more fair to look at the number of PML cases 9-12 months ago (~50) and compare that to number of deaths (20). The eventual death due to PML from Tysabri is more like 40%. On the positive side, this is much better than when people previously thought the majority of PML cases were fatal
