Jim..... if you could give me your thoughts as to why?

1) - oil isn't a fossil fuel

2) - Canada's oilsands are the largest known hydrocarbon reserves in the world. Suncor (SU-TSX) which is one of Canada's biggest producers is mining the stuff for less than $10 a barrel and at current production they have over 40 years of mining life. There's an estimated 150 years of production between the big 4 integrated producers up here in Alberta.

3) - Methane Hydrates -- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) estimates that the methane hydrates beneath U.S. waters alone hold some 200 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, enough to supply all the nation's energy needs for more than 2,000 years at current rates of use

4) - Electricity production by source: coal 50% -- nuclear 20% -- hydro 8% -- gas and liquids 18% -- other 2%

...hardly sounds like "the extinction of homo sapiens" -- the people who wrote the article are nothing more than alarmists.

Regards,
Michael
