It's possible the thieves came in to swipe a computer or some CD's and saw a pile of silver bars. More likely they knew the guy had some silver. Somehow the word was out.

Maybe he mentioned it to someone. Mistake.

When buying something of value pay cash, never give a name or an address.

I have nothing of value except my baseball glove and a set of 1977 left-handed golf clubs. Thieves are welcome.
