Primary, looking at the patents, it appears that Dr. Chang licensed several of his patent/patent applications to Acuvector. I would guess at some point, accuvector ceased function as a company developing products but the Acuvector entity still holds the patents.

When Acuvector ceased developing products, Dr. Chang felt he was free to relicense the patents. Apparently, he was wrong and may not have had any provision in the Acuvector license to return the patents for non performance.

IMO, Acuvecor will just hold on to the patents and probably want royalties/money.

The University of Alberta has also gotten into the action by wanting royalties also.

IMO, Acuvector is NOT going away. They hold all the cards.
