$NVAX -- They have some pivotal data coming up on their H1N1 candidate. They are also waiting on a sizable grant from BARDA that was supposed to come last year but I guess you can't count on the govt to deliver in a timely manner on such things.
$IBIO -- They have a really interesting technology for vaccines, like PLX, that is based on using plants. I think people overlook them so easily because of how small they are, but the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation appear to be seriously interested in using their technology. I would not underestimate the potential just yet. I highly doubt their foundation did not thoroughly vet them.
$CBLI -- This is more of a bet on the govt's need to stockpile. In regards to the animal studies, I'm not sure about how ethical it is to give people acute radiation syndrome in order to test their treatment for on people. CBLB502 is being developed by Cleveland BioLabs under the FDA's Animal Efficacy Rule. It also has potential for use in patients receiving total body irradiation.
They secured a $45m($15m upfront) BARDA contract and more Federal money is on the way, due to the Project Bioshield Act. Other countries will probably follow once the US puts more money in.
$AMRN -- I give about 80% chance that the ANCHOR study is positive. I have reviewed the Japanese data where they conducted a similar trial and produced significant results in those with TG between 200-499mg. AMR-101 seems like a product a number of parties will be interested in.
$PLX -- Fairly certain their Gaucher's treatment, Uplyso (taliglucerase alfa), will be approved on 2/25. It's a plant-cell based protein technology that has a lot of promise, especially they get approval. I think they will be able to compete with Cerezyme because Uplyso is MUCH cheaper to manufacturer, hence they can sell it at a considerable discount to Cerezyme. Obviously, it will be tough getting people to switch, but a good number have already been using their treatment because of Genzyme's manufacturing woes. They are also developing an oral version for Gauchers.
$SGEN -- I don't think Pazdur's recent comments have any effect on them. Their response rates are VERY high, small pat. population and lots of activity.
