TM$, the DAWT was originally patented by Grumman in 1979 and again in 1982. They sold the technology to Vortek in New Zealand in the early 90's. Vortek built a huge unit out of steal and concrete that had no economic viability. V7 went bankrupt and all of the Grumman patents have since expired. That is why I find it to be so ironic that GB still talks about "his patented technology"! You cannot patent a DAWT!!!!!!! only enhancements!!! GB did not invent the DAWT. The original DAWT concept was first evaluated in the 1920's. And since I'm on a roll BETZ limit is only relevent in relation to OPEN-BLADED systems. It does not apply to DAWT because of the shroud.
