Yes, of course. I think what you may be getting at is what if they have endotoxemia that has not yet progressed to full blown sever sepsis? That is an individual institutional/physician assessment. The dilemma is that placing patients in the ICU can sometimes result in them getting sicker (there a lot of papers on this), but you must balance that against risking the loss of early intervention that may be critical for the patient.
