Thank you Walmart by Eric Lehner
Feb 4th
There has been good progress early this week in resolving issues that have a bearing on a resumption of ordering; there are no points of disagreement at this time. There are, however, some practical details pertaining to delivery minimums, but there are workable solutions available in my opinion. We will work with our distributor to complete suitable arrangements. When I have evidence that goods are being reordered by this retailer, it will be confirmed by News Release.
I thank all parties involved in these discussions for having kept consumers’ interests on the agenda. Consumers have noticed that Winning Colours was missing from Walmart shelves. During this pause, consumers have spoken, including unsolicited correspondence which expressed their desire to find Winning Colours Stain Remover at Canada’s Walmart stores, but also documented their willingness to buy Winning Colours elsewhere by sharing stories of their efforts in this regard.
The ideal solution is for consumers to find the product at their preferred shopping destination - and Walmart is a favourite for many. A resumption of ordering will be beneficial for all parties and this is understood by all parties.
I am sharing this update with you from the U.S. south, where I have been on business since Wednesday. I drove here instead of flying because of the likelihood that the snowstorms across the Northeast would cause flight delays or cancellations – which turned out to have been a justified concern because my preferred flight was cancelled at the last moment. That didn’t affect me however, because I left the previous day by Interstate “just in case”.
After completing my principal tasks here, and before returning, I accepted an invitation to speak to a group of young students at a local school who were studying marketing by looking at new products and considering the issues associated with new companies and their brands. I was certainly impressed by their interest, their questions and their enthusiasm.
As to the primary purpose for coming here, I should know in about a month or so whether we have earned the right for a 2011 launch with this company in America. It was a great feeling knowing, during this meeting, that there is nothing on this retailer’s shelf that is better than Winning Colours Stain Remover. My position is simply that leading retailers should carry a demonstrably superior product. It just makes sense, and over the long term, common sense usually prevails.
So, with sunrise tomorrow, I’m heading back.
