I have an odd question and I wonder if anyone knows the answer or where to get it.

A lot of mention on this board about claims from other mining companies/exploration companies staked around the KATX claims.

Does anyone know if ALL the land up there is now claimed by one company or another or is any of this land still unclaimed?

I have seen at least one map showing one or more of the KATX properties ENGULFED by Vale Inco. Does VALE literally own EVERY SINGLE parcel of land around our claims or is that a loose interpretation on that map?

Ken and Co. managed to get 102 more claims linking Rusty and Shaylee - from SOMEWHERE. That means there was at least 102 open parcels of land to be claimed. Anyone have any idea how many, if any, claims are "unclaimed" up there still?

I suppose my thought is, if there are very few claims left up there to be had, that's pretty much a "gold rush" phenomena where "prospectors" have snapped up all the claims they can get their hands on, for a good reason.

When I see comments like "dud" and "sub-economic copper" I have to wonder if this is the case, why would a company like Vale have any interest at all?

No offense to the Newfies but that land doesn't appear to be suitable for much more than mining, forestry and fishing. I doubt a South American company like Vale would buy up all those claims just for the heck of it. South America is more suited for bikini-clad tourists than Newfoundland and Labrador so probably they bought land up there with good reason (to mine it, not build resorts).
