None of it really matters anyway fuagf as Syria and Hizbullah will eventually get their way and Harriri and the rest of the govt. will be forced to ultimately bow to Hizbullah.

Hiz. and Syria control Lebanon right now. They have the overwhelming military and financial might. Dont worry about the US. At the end of the day, the US has very little power in Lebanon. If the Hizbullah wants to overthrow the govt which I predict will happen in anywhere from a month to the next two years at the latest, the USA and its allies wont be able to do a damm thing about it. There hands are tied elsewhere.

Only way too late did the US figure out the right policy toward Lebanon to bring stability. The whole problem with Lebanon is it has never had a STRONG central governement and strong army. In fact, its been intentionally weakened by all of the regional players who had their own agenda for Lebanon. Any Lebanese leader that emerged that showed some independence from Syria and others were met with assasination ala Bashir Gemayel, Renee Mouawad , Rafik Harriri and many others. The Lebanese Army for years was very porrly armed and got no support from other nations. They had no strong body to keep order. In fact the Lebanese Army for almost 40 years has been weakened while at the same time foreign entities armed other miltias within Lebanon mainly Hizbullah but also the Marada, the Amal and others. Only in the past couple years did the US wake up and realize the only way to have a stable Lebanon is to make sure the Lebanese Army is the strongest military power within the country. As the result the USA has supplied Lebanon with some military might recently but its way too little and a few decades too late as Hizbullah has amassed an very strong force and now has over 60,000 rockets from Iran and Syria.

Even Israel needs to think twice about engaging Hizbullah like they did a few years ago as Hizbullah has doubled its rockets and now has rockets that can reach any part of Israel unlike the last skirmish. This should have never been allowed to happen in the first place but it was Iran and Syria's plan for years to weaken the Lebanese govt. and army and build a force that can overthrow it which it now definitely can. A strong lebanese army that controlled the country could have prevented such an arms build up in the first place. Now all of Lebanon , all Sunni, Shia, Christians, Druze and others will be likely once again dragged into another war with Israel or a civil war. Another war it doesnt want or need. What a damm shame for my beautiful Lebanon. All some of us want is lasting peace.
