HSBC is UK headquartered company. In this case, it's pointless where it is based. It's a global company that had its root in Asia, and does majority of its business in Asia.
Your list mentioned explicitly those are for Shanghai- or Shenzhen-listed companies only. Quite a few Chinese companies are Hong Kong listed only.
China is complex, much more so than US. Many people who talk about China excessively in the media don't know what they are talking about. There are people who know quite well. You have to be careful who you listen to when you don't understand fully.
