My broker allows it. Interactive Brokers (IB)

All a person in China needs to do is open an account with them. For example, I trade Canadian stocks semi-regularly using them. I've never tried to trade on the Hong Kong exchange.

I have many friends in the EU that trade US stocks via IB.

Here's the list of countries that can trade via IB:

Hopefully, this helps.

What would it take to open up these US listed china stocks to investors in China? Why can't an investor in Hong Kong, go on-line and buy these stocks?

Evidently it doesn't go the other way either...I can buy ETF's like HAO, TAO etc...but not stocks listed only in China. I would think to keep the flow of capital flowing globally, this should feasible and wise for all....the world being "flat" and all...what's the deal?
