They would have to be at the point of making massive profits as the recycling facility would have to operate at a loss. There is money in recycling, the cost of #1 plastic per pound is more than what JBI would get if they converted it to fuel. There is also still a market for paper, why not the best of both worlds.

We also need to be clear here. We have been focusing on the local operation in Niagara Falls, New York and Thorold, Ontario (20 minutes away). This is going to be just a small part of the business down the road. When they put processors at waste and recycling facilities, that is where some real money can be made. JBI does not have to provide land, the building, the plastic, they maintain control of the processor technology, and get most of the profits. The waste or recycling facility don't have to pay the various transport costs (driver, time, fuel, wear and tear on the vehicle) and landfill fees, get a deal on fuel, possible profit from the diesel, and do not have to worry about the processor, that would be JBI's problem. Big win-win for both.
