To the editor: [F6] ..

Please, politicians (all), and media people (all) be honest and forthright to the Australian people re the situation in Afghanistan. Yes, there is some progress in diminishing parts of Afghanistan, however consider, our media highlights road accidents and ignores the multitudes driving safely, and highlights violence in society, while ignoring the multitudes living peacefully. Yet, our media highlights over-all progress in Afghanistan while giving a lie to the fact that over-all security is down.

Most politicians and most media present a false picture, as they did in the lies leading to the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Fact is, the WSJ informs us, "U.N Maps Show Risks in Many Districts Have Increased Despite Troop Surge". Yes, the October map, as the March map showed "nearly all of southern Afghanistan—the focus of the coalition's military offensives—remained painted the red of "very high risk," with no noted improvements. At the same time, the green belt of "low risk" districts in northern, central and western Afghanistan shriveled."

Also, the "Pentagon report mandated by Congress drew similar conclusions when it was
released last month. It said attacks were up 70% since 2009 and threefold since 2007."

The WSJ tells Americans the truth here, why cannot our MSM. It is a real problem.

Sincerely
...........
