Adams lied to many about the direction of the company to the shareholders, and spread rumors that Black Art Beer had a major beer contract coming out with Krogers, that there was new rebottling design( by which he tweaked the website), and barcodes- while urging them to hold their stock. After resigning, as part of the sale of the business, he texted shareholders, urging them to hold their stock for the great announcement- while he continued to divest his own family's holdings. He and Cross have taken Black Art Beer private.
