If the Israeli Arabs had not been misled in the 1996 elections and had voted for Peres as their true interests dictated (if they were really interested in peace), then Netanyahu wouldn't have won that election, and [perhaps] things would be very different now. That is presuming of course that Arafat is sincere when he says in English that he accepts the existence of Israel. This may be an erroneous assumption.
