P2O help the environment in two ways....
First it reduces the amount of plastic that goes into landfills. The saves money and energy. It takes a lot of fuel to operate the bulldozers that cover up trash every day with a layer of dirt. landfills are filling up and new ones are further away from the sources of the trash so hauling costs and fuel usage for hauling is going up. Plastic in landfills is going to be there are very long time before it decomposes.
Second. The fuel produced by P2O represents a second usage of the crude oil that made the plastic in the first place.
In a perfect world, everything would get recycled. But since were are not there yet, P2O represents a real improvement over the present situation.
