Get up here and you will be pleased, TONS and TONS of snow have vanished in the past 4 days-----one can actually see sizable areas of bare ground).
On Sunday i had a 7foot plowed pile of snow, it is now 3.5feet.
We will come with a high total this year.
But nothing will ever match the winter of 61/62 that the locals talk still about in almost "holy awe".
The 2nd highest ever snow year in Maine is 5.5feet less than the winter of 1961/1962. That is going back something like 200years.
They point at my house and say 'the drift on the north side of your house was just short of that chimney'. I say "That is 30feet." 'Yup. 30 feet, that's what it was, 30feet'
