If you attempt to break your contract, you have to show cause. So far you are relying on thinnings not being sold? That is not enough to show that Steve breached his contract with you from the info i received. The trees exist, that they do is uncontested. The contract has a term limit. Projections are based on favorable weather, civil conditions,etc,etc,etc. The disclaimer of unforseeableness in every contract is enough to stop any lawsuit since the trees do exist.
