Atl posted on Feb 10, #msg-5398722 that the Tahoe was purchased by Torvec.
321, I agree with most of your assessment. The video is clearly not of professional quality. It is interesting, however, in that they appear to have made extremely rapid progress on automating control of the vehicle. It surprises me on one hand that with a million bucks to a winner that completes the course (I think that was the figure), that this team would be releasing a promotional video highlighting some of the mechanics and their terrain/GPS mapping strategy. Granted, they may not have given away any trade secrets but they've clearly shown their hand to competitors....and to the Army, the intended target.
I played the video twice. Didn't the narrator call Torvec's platform the "Full Time Vehicle"? Sure sounded that way. The 'err, and ummm's' were bad enough but mis-pronoucing the vehicle name would be very poor form. I would have also liked to have seen more shots of the driverless vehicle moving. Those criticisms apart, I think if I'm a general at the Army looking at last year's contestants and then I see this Torvec team video, I'd be on a transport to Rochester.
(BTW, for those interested, I didn't spend all night looking for ATL's post about TOVC's purchase of the Tahoe. iHub paid membership includes a pretty good search feature that will actually scan all posted messages on the board for the key words you enter. I entered a search for "Purchased Tahoe" and ATL's post was the second hit. Took less than 30 seconds to find. Not pumping membership for these guys but it is a handy feature. If anyone ever needs/wants to search for previous post, just give me the key words you think will help identify it and I'll be happy to initiate the search.)
