OT if one wanted to generalize it's no better or worse than found in all other countries, including ours

I certainly do NOT want to go down the road of discussing any of this about any particular country - but OTOH there are certainly very(!) noticeable differences in business culture in different countries. Nothing to do with ethics - just tenor, focus areas, communication styles, aggressiveness, timeliness, ... . There are, in fact, whole consulting firms who help people to understand the differences and how to avoid getting hurt by them.
