Abstract:
Preparations of polysaccharides lacking substantial anticoagulant activity are provided herein. Methods of making and using such preparations are provided.

The preparations provided herein can be used, for example, to treat or prevent a metastatic disorder (e.g., a cancer, e.g., a carcinoma or other solid cancer). As used herein, the term "cancer" is meant to include all types of cancerous growths or oncogenic processes, metastatic tissues or malignantly transformed cells, tissues, or organs, irrespective of histopathologic type or stage of invasiveness. Methods and compositions disclosed herein are particularly useful for treating, or reducing the size, numbers, or rate of growth of, metastatic lesions associated with cancer.

The preparations described herein can also be used to treat inflammatory, autoimmune, fibrotic, fibroproliferative, atopic, or angiogenic disorders.
