I once had my landlord (who was also a dentist btw) pay me several hundred dollars to come figure out a networking/print issue. After looking at the situation and trying to reinstall printer drivers, realising he didn't have any Windows media. I finally rebooted the PC and it started working.

I asked him how often he rebooted the 3 PCs in that dentist office and he said "never". Literally the PCs had all been up and running for 3-6 months at a time and he had no concept of rebooting them, didn't even understand why he would ever want to shut them off for any reason.

So in short he was treating it like a Microwave oven, he had no concept of software licencing, preventative maintenence, power usage, etcetera. It was just another "box" in his office.
