Ethanol Tax Credits

Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, said Thursday to Iowa reporters that he and Senate Finance Committee Ranking member Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, are planning to attach extensions to the 45-cent ethanol blenders credit and the $1 per-gallon biodiesel tax credit to a tax extenders bill that will come up in December. The Wall Street Journal also referenced the ethanol tax credit as one of $60 billion in tax cuts proposed. The article, however, noted the challenges of extending tax credits that used to be routine in Congress.
