BMY PFE Apixaban Aren't halts rare?

The study was stopped early based on the recommendation of an independent Data Monitoring Committee (DMC).

What clinical researchers are thrilled with is a halt because it works so well it would be wrong to keep some people on placebo.

What's more typical for a mid-term independent review is being told "keep going" as although the results aren't spectacular, it does no harm, and may ultimately show good results.

A cease and desist order is very bad.
It says your drug does more harm than a placebo and the standard treatment of care.

That's why they have independent review boards. They're there to say, "I know you had high hopes for this approach and drug, but something's not working, so pull the plug and try again."
