The router is a Weeke Optimat BHC 550... made in Germany for those that may want to further research...

Unfortunately, we don't know the details of the actual failure, but I called a friend of mine "in the biz" who said the problem is probably the spindle, and the average repair takes 1-2 weeks but emergency rebuilds can be done in 1-3 days.. FWIW.
