Dollar Falls Against Other Major Currencies in
European Trading; Gold Prices Rise

LONDON (AP) -- The U.S. dollar fell Thursday against other
major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose.

The euro was quoted at 98.97 cents, up from 98.29 cents late
Wednesday.

Other dollar rates compared with late Wednesday included:
122.45 Japanese yen, down from 122.84; 1.4768 Swiss francs,
down from 1.4899, and 1.5654 Canadian dollars, down from
1.5662.

The British pound was quoted at $1.5645, up from $1.5567.

In midday trading in New York, the dollar was quoted at 122.64
yen. The euro traded at 98.85 cents and the British pound was
quoted at $1.5635.

Gold closed in London at $316.70 bid per troy ounce, up from
$315.90 on Wednesday. In Zurich the bid was $316.50, up
from $316.20. Gold closed at $317.55 an ounce in Hong Kong,
up 40 cents.

Silver traded in London at $4.46 bid per troy ounce, down from
$4.48. '

* - friend of mine dropped one once, on the brand new 1969 Buick Toronado he had bought about a week before -g- ... i dropped one once on a 138 kw power line, and if it hadn't been for the repair bill following, it would have been worth it for the impressive flash and crackly sound track
