Captain Jack, Every Vietnam Vet I ever met told stories of heavy drug use in the war zones. None of them but one were officers. Many of them are or were screwed up mentally but still were good folks to pal around with. One of them was a very good friend and died a horrible death from unexplained sores, arthritis and bizarre blood disorders. The really sad story with him was that he spent 2 tours as a front-line combat Marine and when he got back was entrapped by a narc into selling 2 marijuana cigarettes. For this crime he spent 3 years in Oklahoma State Prison. He never received any assistance from the VA.
