VoIP is ready for prime time--and it's going to hurt
For many weeks now, tech nomad Peter Cochrane has been experimenting with Skype. All his telephone calls--Skype-to-Skype, Skype-to-mobile and Skype-to-fixed line--have been made with headset and laptop computer. His mobile phone bill has plummeted from $500 a month to less than $10 a month. He's even purchased headsets for his children and colleagues and asked them to move to VoIP. Yes, the telecom industry is in big trouble.
