Also, understand that this was an Economic issue as well. Having built it's economy based on Slave labor, the South would have taken decades to recover from the economic effects of the end of slavery with or with out a war. If you want to really get down to the nitty gritty of what the war was about...it was about one group of people wanting to dictate to another group of people HOW they should go about living.
Throughout history, this attitude as typically been a precursor to war. When one group tells another that "you are doing it WRONG, You must change!" a fight is bound to break out.


To me building your economy on someone elses free labor is BS! It reminds me of people today who are on welfare.They are healthy enough to earn their own living,but are lazy.To me thats what slave labor reminds me of,lazy people (the slave owners).Yep the south was afraid to change and so are many other people.People will stagnate, shivel up and cease to progress without change. Its to bad it wasn't their choice to remain in the land of the lost.


On the minimum wage debate; I really do not see a need for the increase.If you are a hard working person,then the chances of making more then minimum wage is good even if a education is lacking. A work ethic is the key.
