I don't consider that type of obvious speculation, which is typical in this area, to be either suspicious or significant. Much of it is the product of posters having nothing better to do while waiting for news. I'm sure I could find similar speculation regarding SHSH if I bothered to go back through the postings. I wouldn't think you would take it seriously, either.
Of course there will be speculation of a buyout. There is for almost every junior, including moose pasture startups. As for the $2B, that's a number you can get to quite easily starting with the estimate of 5-8M oz- the kinds of numbers which were around before SFMI. I'd like to see your list of companies in a better position than SFMI- seriously, it could provide fodder for a lot of good discussion. I doubt that many of the companies are presently valued under $40m, though.
As far as the quote from your typical poster posting claims he can't back up, you forgot to include the part of that quote where he labeled that part of the list "Rumour Related". Forgetting to include that part of the quote may be convenient for your argument, but is not what I consider legitimate discussion. The poster clearly separated rumor (which he did't back up, obviously) from the rest of his list, which is factual and either backed up by sources or is a report of what was stated at the annual meeting.
